Trent Hammond is nine for 12 in the Southern Section Division 3 baseball playoffs, so it's no surprise that Gardena Serra has reached the semifinals after a 6-2 victory over Garden Grove.

In Division 2, Vista Murrieta defeated South Hills, 2-1. Joven Afenir threw five innings and Tyler Russell threw two scoreless innings of relief. Freshman Jack Moberg had two hits.

Kevin Lillicrop threw a one-hitter and Tyler Alamo had two hits and two RBIs to lead Cypress past Oxnard, 9-0. Cypress will play Vista Murrieta in the semifinals. Los Osos will meet Temecula Valley in the other semifinal.

In Division 4, Jack Kruger had a grand slam in Oaks Christian's 14-4 win over Northview. Chris Davis added three hits.

In Division 5, Village Christian defeated Tahquitz, 10-1. Chris Davidson struck out six in a complete game. Brad Wetherby had three hits.
