Are there any Calabasas residents who know about fishing and whale watching?

You might be recruited to join the Viewpoint football team as guides on a trip to Alaska this fall. The 45 players are set to open the 2013 football season with games against Thunder Mountain on Aug. 20 and Juneau-Douglas on Aug. 23 in Juneau.

They leave on a Monday and return on a Saturday. Practice will start on Aug. 3. The trip becomes more affordable by playing two games in a week, according to associate head coach Chris Adamson.

The team will do some tourist activities between practices. That’s where whale watching, visiting glaciers and perhaps some fly fishing could come into play.

Asked about his team’s sophomore quarterback, Zach Chulak, Adamson said, ‘I think he’s more surfer than fisherman.’

Viewpoint’s top returning player is receiver-defensive back Adam Balaban.
