New UCLA basketball Coach Steve Alford was making visits on Thursday around town, and one of his stops was at Bellflower St. John Bosco, where Coach Derrick Taylor said he was impressed.

‘I like him a lot,’ Taylor said ‘I have a good feel about him.’

Joining Alford were two of his new assistant coaches, David Grace and Duane Broussard.

Taylor sent Jordan Farmar to UCLA when he was coaching at Taft.

Alford was also expected to make a visit to Mater Dei, which has the No. 1 prospect in Southern California in Stanley Johnson.
