The Southern Section announced on Thursday that it has reached agreement with Long Beach Poly officials regarding the action taken by boys’ basketball Coach Sharrief Metoyer, who played an ineligible player during the Jackrabbits’ state playoff game against Santa Ana Mater Dei in March.

Neither the Southern Section nor Poly Principal Joe Carlson would discuss specifics of any action taken against Metoyer, calling it a personnel issue.

In a statement from Southern Section spokesman Thom Simmons: ‘The violations by the head coach of the Long Beach Poly varsity basketball team have been resolved to the satisfaction of both the CIF-SS and the administration of Long Beach Poly. As this involves a personnel issue of an employee of Long Beach Unified School District, any further comment must come from the school or the school district.’

Carlson said there are still issues that need to be resolved with the CIF state office next month.

Kameron Chatman, who was the ineligible player put into the game, will be eligible immediately to play for the Jackrabbits when he begins his senior season after sitting out his junior year.
