There were more than 20 pro baseball scouts, with several scouting directors in attendance, to watch right-hander Phil Bickford of Oaks Christian in his latest pitching effort on Saturday against North Torrance in the Redondo tournament.

The game was more than hour late starting, because the umpires failed to show. Nothing seemed to faze Bickford, who struck out 13, walked one and allowed two hits in a 9-0 victory.

Harrison Hoff had a two-run double, Jack Kruger had three RBIs and Chris Pann contributed two hits.

The seniors were in a hurry, because they had a prom to attend in the evening.

Oaks Christian, ranked No. 1 in Division 4, is 17-3-1.
