Baseball: San Clemente wins on walk-off home run by Gage Costales

There was plenty of drama on Tuesday, and San Clemente’s Gage Costales came through with the biggest hit of all, a three-run home run to left with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Tritons (16-3) past Laguna Hills, 3-0, in a Sea View League game.

Cody Maples allowed one hit in six innings for San Clemente. Kevin Cunningham of Laguna Hills had a no-hitter through six innings. Neither pitcher gave up a walk.

In the Trinity League, Austin Ponzi had the game-winning hit in the ninth inning to give Santa Margarita a 7-6 win over St. John Bosco. Andrew Mendonca had three hits. Mater Dei (15-1) won its 15th consecutive game, a 7-1 win over Servite. Davis Tominaga threw a complete game. Austin Grebeck had three hits and Ryan McMahon, Jeremy Martinez and Brandon Perez had two each.

In the Mission League, Chaminade defeated Alemany, 3-2. Kevin Lewallyn and Nick Ortega made a three-run second inning hold up. Loyola defeated Crespi, 9-8, on a walk-off hit by Jack Gilmore in the seventh. Chasen Gensurowsky had three hits for Crespi. Sherman Oaks Notre Dame defeated St. Francis, 7-6, in eight innings. Jack Morello had three hits for Notre Dame. Tom Scheper homered for St. Francis.

In the Pacific View League, Joseph Romero struck out 13 in Oxnard’s 9-0 win over Pacifica.

In the Century League, Austin McGeorge threw six shutout innings and went three for three at the plate as Anaheim Canyon defeated Villa Park, 2-0. El Modena defeated Esperanza, 1-0. Nathan Kuchta threw a four-hitter.

In the South Coast League, El Toro came away with a two-game sweep of Capistrano Valley, 4-1. Ryan Kayoda struck out seven.

In the Del Rey League, Solomon Bates struck out 12 and threw a one-hitter in Gardena Serra’s 6-0 win over Bishop Amat. Trent Hammond had three hits. L.A. Cathedral defeated La Salle, 5-2. David Sanchez had three RBIs, including a two-run home run.

In the Almont League, Alhambra defeated Schurr, 13-0. Marco Briones threw a no-hitter for 6 1/3 innings and finished with 12 strikeouts.

In the Channel League, Santa Barbara defeated Ventura, 6-2. Gabe Grandcolas struck out five and walked none. Johnny Bronstema and Jeff Paschke each had a single and double. Dos Pueblos defeated Buena, 9-0.

Beckman defeated Irvine, 7-6. Torin Goldstein went three for three.

In the Pacific League, Burbank defeated Pasadena, 8-7. John White and Angel Roman each had three RBIs for Burbank. Burroughs defeated Crescenta Valley, 8-7. Ted Boeke had three hits for the Falcons.

Calvary Chapel defeated Sierra Canyon, 11-9. Kevin Matsui went four for four for Calvary Chapel.

Damien defeated Ayala, 5-4, in nine innings. Warren defeated Downey, 5-1, with Alan Trejo throwing a six-hitter and also getting two hits.
