If there’s one thing that has bothered Chatsworth’s City Section power baseball team in recent years, it’s left-handers who throw strikes.

Last season, Jack Hartman of Reseda Cleveland defeated the Chancellors with a complete game. And Hartman is back for his senior season with an 8-1 record and 0.55 ERA. He’ll get another shot at Chatsworth on Tuesday at home in a battle for first place in the West Valley League.

Chatsworth and Cleveland have identical 17-7 overall records and 4-0 league records. All-City pitcher Jason Karkenny will pitch for Chatsworth in the first of a two-game series. The next game is Thursday at Chatsworth.

Winning the first game is important, because if either team sweeps, that’s the end of league title aspirations.

Hartman is headed to Pennsylvania. Karkenny is committed to The Master’s College. Defense and avoiding errors will be critical.
