Baseball: Freshman Josh Garcia pitches Chatsworth to victory

It’s getting scary to think how good freshman pitcher Josh Garcia of Chatsworth will be over the next three seasons, because he has become very good in his first year on varsity.

He threw another complete game on Saturday, allowing two infield singles and an unearned run while walking none in Chatsworth’s 3-1 win over Santa Barbara. Riley Conlan had an RBI triple for the Chancellors (17-7), who face Cleveland on Tuesday at Cleveland in a West Valley League game for first place.

In the Trinity League, Orange Lutheran rallied from a two-run deficit to defeat Servite, 4-2. Leo Hernandez threw three shutout innings of relief and had two RBIs for the Lancers.

Alemany defeated Cleveland, 15-6. Sophomore Ruben Cardenas hit a grand slam. Cardenas, Rece Reagan, Ryan Alvarez and Nick Suniga each had three hits.

Loyola pulled out a 3-2 win over Long Beach Wilson in 10 innings. Quinn Brodey drove in all three runs with a home run and double. His RBI double in the top of the 10th broke a 2-2 tie.

Bonita is 19-2-1 after a 3-1 win over Corona Centennial. Jon Reid threw five innings and improved to 6-0.

Warren (17-3) won its 11th in a row with a 14-1 win over South Gate. Daniel Roman was three for three with four RBIs.

San Fernando defeated Venice, 12-1, in six innings. Carlos Robles struck out six. Jose Haros had three hits, including two doubles. Joe Mier added two hits and two RBIs. Brian Munster threw a complete game in Granada Hills’ 3-1 win over Verdugo Hills. Ryan McBride had a double and two RBIs.

David Fletcher and Stephen Lohr had two hits apiece in Cypress’ 6-3 win over Palos Verdes. Hayden Rappoport had two hits and three RBIs in El Camino Real’s 12-2 win over Buckley. Sun Valley Poly defeated Marshall, 6-1. Nick Shur threw a three-hitter in Agoura’s 4-0 win over South Torrance.

Bishop Amat defeated Covina, 6-5. Freshman Anthony Walters went three for four with a double. Ryan Bett pitched the final 3 1/3 innings for the win.

Arleta defeated Carson, 9-8. Ryan Reyes had a three-run triple in the seventh to win the game. Mike Galindo threw a complete game. Granada Hills Kennedy defeated Monroe, 10-0. Angel Romo allowed four hits and struck out five.

Willie Aguilar threw three scoreless innings in Cathedral’s 8-4 win over El Segundo. Brian Duenas, Henry Martinez and Sergio Robles each had two hits.

San Clemente split a doubleheader with Great Oak, winning, 5-4, and losing, 2-1.
