Baseball: Del Rey League begins with Serra-Bishop Amat series

The new and improved Del Rey League begins this week with a two-game series featuring the two top teams in the league _ Gardena Serra (13-5) and Bishop Amat (6-8).
Bishop Amat is the home team on Tuesday and Serra gets to host the Lancers on Friday.
It’s a great test to see if Serra is ready to take on a big-time baseball power, play defense and win in a pressure situation.
Last year, the Cavaliers couldn’t perform when they faced L.A. Cathedral for the league title in their previous league. They’ve added six transfer students and have a virtual all-star team now that April 1 has come and the players who had to sit out are eligible.
Bishop Amat has been trying to get healthy after several key injuries left the Lancers vulnerable against good teams.
It should be two intense, entertaining matchups this week.
