Baseball: Cleveland stays unbeaten in league with 10-inning victory

Matt del Mundo had three hits, including the walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th inning, to give Reseda Cleveland a 5-4 victory over Granada Hills in a West Valley League game on Thursday.

The win gives Cleveland a 4-0 record in league and sets up a Tuesday showdown against visiting Chatsworth (4-0). Andrew Devian had tied the game with a two-out RBI single in the sixth. Harley Faye threw 5 2/3 innings of relief for the victory.

Chatsworth rallied from a 1-0 deficit, scoring four runs in the sixth inning to defeat Birmingham, 4-1. Nick Milone threw a complete game to outduel Daniel Rivas. He struck out 11. Sophomore Sam Shaikin, who missed Tuesday’s game with an ankle injury, had a pinch-hit RBI single in the sixth. Nick Switalla had a two-run single.

El Camino Real won its first league game with a 15-3 win over Taft. Nick Snyder had three hits and four RBIs. Owen Perry got the victory.

In the Valley Mission League, San Fernando (22-2) overcame a two-run deficit in the seventh to defeat Sylmar, 6-5. Alonzo Garcia drove in one run with a single and Carlos Robles got an RBI on a sacrifice fly. Garcia struck out 11 and walked one. Jose Haros and Roberto Ramos had two hits each. Danny Cervacio had a double and single for Sylmar.

Sierra Canyon defeated Kilpatrick, 15-0, in five innings. Bret Johanneson struck out six. Buckley defeated Providence, 12-1. Ben Shahar had five RBIs. Gardena Serra defeated La Salle, 7-5. Dominic Smith homered.
