Baseball: Chatsworth rallies to pull out 10-9 win over El Camino Real

It wasn’t the best performance of the season from Chatsworth, but the Chancellors were able to rally from a 9-2 deficit to defeat Woodland Hills El Camino Real, 10-9, in a West Valley League opener on Tuesday.

Nick Milone had the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the eighth with one out to help Chatsworth (13-5) overcome four errors, including three on bunts. Milone also had a three-run triple during Chatsworth’s six-run fifth inning. Jerry Ismerio had three hits for the Chancellors. Freshman Josh Garcia threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win.

Yannick Villanueva contributed two hits and three RBIs for El Camino Real (7-12). The two teams play again on Thursday at El Camino Real.

Cleveland opened league play with a 10-0, five-inning win over Taft. Jack Hartman struck out six and allowed three hits. Matt del Mundo had three hits.

Birmingham knocked off Granada Hills, 5-3, behind Nick Schwartz, who had a three-run home run and finished with three hits. Adrian Rodriguez threw a complete game.

In the Valley Mission League, Alex Gomez had two home runs and five RBIs in Kennedy’s 10-0 win over Van Nuys. In the Western League, Hamilton defeated Fairfax, 11-1. Venice defeated University, 10-6.
