Baseball: After four triples, San Fernando holds on for 7-6 win

There were four triples hit on Thursday in the Valley Mission League game at Granada Hills Kennedy. Two were hit by Jose Haros of San Fernando. Two were hit by Alex Gomez of Kennedy.

In the end, San Fernando (16-2) held on for a 7-6 victory to complete a two-game sweep of the Golden Cougars. Haros got a fly ball out with the tying run on third. San Fernando is 4-0 in league. Kennedy is 2-2.

Haros went three for three with three RBIs. Ariel Torres had three RBIs on two squeeze bunts and a sacrifice fly.

In the Righetti tournament, sophomore pitcher Kyle Merkel struck out 10 and improved to 4-0 in Alemany’s 9-2 win over Deer Valley. Terrell Tate had four RBIs. Gus Mendoza conributed three hits. Alemany (12-3) advances to the championship game.

Crespi lost to El Rancho, 6-2.
