Baseball: Another home run for Joe Prior in Servite victory

Joe Prior hit his fifh home run in his last six games to lead Servite to a 12-1 win over Soquel in the Anaheim Lions tournament.

He has 11 hits in his last 19 at-bats and 14 RBIs. Servite improved to 9-4-1.

Long Beach Poly improved to 4-0 in the Lions tournament with a 3-2 win over Utah Riverton. Robert Castaneda and Brock Meckelborg drove in the tying and winning runs in the seventh.

Capistrano Valley defeated Palos Verdes, 7-1, behind Josh DeVries, who threw a complete game. Santa Margarita defeated Golden Valley, 4-0. Bill Heisler struck out nine. Mira Costa defeated Long Beach Wilson, 4-2. Keyon Allen and Austin Henning had two hits apiece. Kevin Lopez got the save.

Beckman defeated Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 15-2. Alex Shenasi went three for three with two RBIs. Ayala defeated Katella, 9-3, to improve to 11-5 on the season.

Andy Sondreaal and Tyler Cohen combined for the shutout in Agoura’s 1-0 win over Campolindo. Mission Viejo defeated Corona, 11-4. Evan Nelson hit a three-run home run. Benardo Flores threw a one-hitter in Baldwin Park’s 6-0 win over Glenn.

In the Arcadia tournament, Glendora defeated Diamond Ranch, 4-1, with Matt Young striking out nine.

In the Channel League, Santa Barbara defeated San Marcos, 6-0. Gabe Grancolas threw the shutout, striking out three and walking none. Skyler Sabado had three hits.

Gardena Serra defeated Valencia, 4-2. Solomon Bates struck out four and walked none in his pitching debut after sitting out he first month of the season. JD Busfield struck out nine for Valencia.

Warren (10-3) defeated San Jacinto, 12-0. Alan Trejo hit a two-run home run.
