Baseball: Taylor Ready gives Moorpark 7-6 win over Westlake

An RBI single by Taylor Ready in the bottom of the eighth inning lifted Moorpark to a 7-6 win over Westlake on Friday in a Marmonte League game.

Brad Fullerton had double and triple. Blake Chiaramonte had three hits.

Chris Kovach threw a complete game in Royal’s 4-2 win over Simi Valley. He struck out five and walked two. John Glenn had three hits and Garrett Serino added two hits and three RBIs in Thousand Oaks’ 8-4 win over Newbury Park.

Santa Monica swept a doubleheader from Malibu, winning, 2-1, and 5-2. Conner Greene struck out 13 in 5 2/3 innings of the second game.

In the Pacific League, Brian Gadsby threw a three-hitter and Ted Boeke hit a two-run home run in Crescenta Valley’s 3-0 win over Burbank.

In the Baseline League, Etiwanda defeated Upland, 8-1. Cory Peterson (5-1) threw a complete game.

In the Golden League, Ty Boyles struck out 14, allowed four hits and hit a three-run home run in Quartz Hill’s 4-0 win over Highland.

In the East Valley League, North Hollywood defeated Poly, 6-5, but the Parrots filed a protest over an umpire’s call during the game. Tyson Turner had a three-run double for the Huskies. Eddie Torres and Daniel Meza had two hits apiece.

In the Channel League, Dos Pueblos defeated Santa Barbara, 5-2. James Savage had the go-ahead RBI single in the sixth and Luke Coffey followed with an RBI double. Jeff Paschke had a single and triple for Santa Barbara.

Torrance defeated South Torrance, 4-0, behind pitcher Kyle Mitchell, who threw a three-hitter. Sierra Canyon defeated Crossroads, 3-2, in eight innings. Jackson Ramey drove in the winning run.
