Girls’ basketball: Gardena Serra beats St. Bernard

Siera Thompson had 24 points and seven rebounds to lead top-seeded Gardena Serra to a 63-54 win over No. 6 seeded St. Bernard in their CIF Southern California Division IV final at Colony High on Saturday.

Caila Hailey added 13 points and Deandrea Toler had 12 points and for the Cavaliers.

Chanelle Pelle and Lajahna Drummer each had 13 points for the Vikings. They also combined for 24 rebounds.

St. Bernard outshot Serra, 38.6% to 33.3%, but the Vikings struggled from the free throw line, making only 7 of 22 shots while the Cavaliers were 15 for 23.
