Girls' basketball: Narbonne wins City Section Division I title

March 2, 2013 |  8:09 pm

Clutch free throws in the final 30 seconds by Kayla Brady and Jade Everage helped Narbonne hold on for a 65-60 victory over Fairfx in the City Section Division I girls' championship game on Saturday night at Cal State Dominguez Hills.

Latecia Smith scored 17 points and Lauryn Catching and Brady had 10 apiece.

Marguerite Effa scored 21 points and Angelica Laury had 19 for Fairfax, which lost to top-seeded Narbonne in the final for the second consecutive season.

"It was a lot of hard work," Coach Victoria Sanders said. "It was free throws and playing good defense."
