Girls' basketball: Lynwood starts fast in 2AA final

Lynwood outscored Riverside North 18-4 in the second quarter to take command of tonight's Southern Section Division 2AA final at the Anaheim Convention Center.

The lead changed hands five times in the first quarter, but the third-seeded Knights scored the last six points to build a 14-9 lead. Then point guard Nijala Johnson caught fire, scoring seven of her nine points in the second quarter. Priscilla Lopez has eight points Jazmine Johnson has seven for Lynwood, which has scored 16-0 points off 10 North turnovers. 

Simone DeCoud and Priscilla Brooks both have four points for the fourth-seeded Huskies, who have shot 20.7 percent from the field and are 0-for-5 from three-point range.
