Girls’ basketball: Gardena Serra win first state title

Gardena Serra defeats Richmond Salesian, 62-60, in the CIF state championship Division IV final at Sleep Train Arena.

Siera Thompson led Serra with 26 points and Deandrea Toler had 20.

Mariya Moore led Salesian with 35 points in one of the great personal performances in state championship history. The 35 points is tied for fifth-best all-time in CIF girls’ title game history. She made 17 of 20 free throws and had 10 rebounds.

This is the first state title for the Cavaliers.
