On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week, junior offensive tackle Damien Mama of Bellfower St. John Bosco picked up scholarship offers from Alabama, Notre Dame and Oklahoma, respectively. Who knows what Friday will bring.

He’s 6 feet 5, weighs 335 pounds and played on the same offensive line last season as USC-bound Nico Falah, which raises the question: How did the Braves ever lose a game?

Well, they lost only once on the field _ to Long Beach Poly in the Pac-5 semifinals.

St. John Bosco Coach Jason Negro said based on the early recruiting, Mama is picking up offers at a faster pace than Falah. He has ‘recruiting fever,’ Negro said. Florida State and Mississippi have also offered Mama.

Another Southern California player rolling in offers is junior defensive back Jonathan Lockett of Mater Dei. Coach Bruce Rollinson said Notre Dame, Washington, Oregon and Oregon State are among the early schools pursuing him.
