Boys’ basketball: Serra trying to repeat as 4AA champ

In a rematch of last year’s Southern Section Division 4AA final, Gardena Serra has jumped out to a 17-13 lead over La Verne Lutheran after one quarter at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Ian Carter has seven points and five rebounds for Serra. Jay Miller has seven points for Lutheran, which upset top-seeded Bishop Montgomery in the semifinals and is trying to avenge its 69-59 loss in the 4AA title game last season.
