Boys’ basketball: Roschon Prince is the Gatorade state player of the year

Senior forward Roschon Prince of Long Beach Poly has been selected the Gatorade state player of the year in boys’ basketball.

The 6-foot-6 Prince, a USC signee, averaged 20.3 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists for the Jackrabbits (28-4).

‘Roschon Prince was the player who really made us go,’ Coach Sharrief Metoyer said in a statement. ‘He does so many things on the court to help the team win.’

He’s the second Poly player to win the award. Ryan Anderson took the same honor during the 2010-11 season.
