Boys' basketball: Mater Dei has 29-17 halftime lead over Etiwanda

Answering the call to duty, Santa Ana Mater Dei has outplayed Etiwanda and leads at halftime, 29-17, in a CIF Southern California Open Division final.

Although Elijah Brown picked up three fouls in the first quarter and was sent to the bench, Jordan Strawberry stepped up to provide an offensive boost. He has 13 points.

Mater Dei went on an 11-0 run to start the second quarter. Etiwanda didn't score its first points until a Kenny Barnes basket with 2:35 left in the quarter. Jordan McLaughlin has missed all six of his shots for Etiwanda. Stanley Johnson of Mater Dei missed all 10 of his shots in the first half.
