Boys' basketball: La Verne Lutheran trails at halftime

La Verne Lutheran entered Saturday afternoon's Southern Section Division 4AA final as one of the hottest teams in California, having won 18 straight games.

Gardena Serra is on the verge of snapping that streak, as the Cavaliers lead Lutheran 36-22 at halftime.

Ajon Jefferson has nine points, Ron Freeman has eight and Emmanuel Ndumanya has seven for Serra. Jay Miller has seven points and Skyler Williams has six for the Trojans.
