Los Angeles Hamilton overcame a 13-point third-quarter deficit and won the City Section Division III championship with a wild ending in its 53-51 victory over Sun Valley Poly at Cal State Dominguez Hills.

Jaffery Stillman scored on a layup and was fouled with two seconds left to tie the game at 51-51. He missed the free throw and Poly called a timeout with 1.5 seconds left. The Parrots attempted to make a long inbounds pass, but the ball hit the American flag hanging from the ceiling, giving Hamilton the ball under its own basket.

The Yankees set up an out of bounds play, and Brandon Lewis got free underneath. He got the pass and scored on a layup as the buzzer sounded and was mobbed on the court by teammates.

It was a tough loss for Poly, which lost leading scorer Cesar Reyes to five fouls with less than two minutes left. He scored 23 points and made seven three-pointers. Kristopher Berry finished with 14 points for Hamilton.
