Baseball: Oaks Christian's Phil Bickford is rising pro prospect

March 30, 2013 |  3:57 pm

Make no mistake about it _ pitcher Phil Bickford of Westlake Village Oaks Christian could be the best professional prospect in Southern California.

His fastball touched 97 mph on Saturday, according to Coach Tim Penprase, during a 13-1 win over Torrance Bishop Montgomery.

All Bickford did was strike out 16 in six innings with zero walks. He gave up one hit. He has signed with Cal State Fullerton.

Cole Taylor had a two-run home run and Armon Battle went two for two.

Oaks Christian is 9-2-1 and will compete in the Boras Classic this coming week.
