Baseball: Moorpark’s Sean Barry strikes out 14 in win over Newbury Park

Sean Barry (5-0) struck out 14 and threw a one-hitter in Moorpark’s 2-0 Marmonte League victory over Newbury Park. Taylor Ready had a single and double.

Westlake stayed unbeaten in league play with a 5-4 win over Thousand Oaks. Luke Dykstra had two hits and three RBIs. Simi Valley defeated Calabasas, 7-4. Dylan Alexander had three RBIs. Agoura defeated Royal, 3-2, in 10 innings. The Chargers scored the winning run on a bases loaded walk. Henry Baker and Tyler Cohen combined on a five-hitter.

In the South Coast League, Ryan Kayoda struck out seven and allowed three hits in El Toro’s 2-1 win over Mission Viejo. In the Sunset League, Marina defeated Huntington Beach, 4-0. Edison defeated Los Alamitos, 5-3.

In the Southwestern League, Tyler Russell struck out five, walked none and pitched Vista Murrieta past Great Oak, 5-1. Ryan Lillie went three for three.

In the Century League, Anaheim Canyon remained unbeaten with a 6-2 win over El Dorado. Mario Losi threw a complete game, allowing four hits.

In the Trinity League, Servite improved to 3-1 with a 3-2, eight-inning win over St. John Bosco. JSerra defeated Santa Margarita, 1-0. Parker Jo Robinson and Quentin Longrie combined on a four-hitter.

In the Foothill League, West Ranch defeated Golden Valley, 10-1. Valencia stayed unbeaten with a 14-1 win over Hart. AJ Balta had a double and home run. Anthony Lepre had a home run, double, single and four RBIs. Canyon defeated Saugus, 9-4. Max Weinstein threw six innings for the win.

In the Babe Herman tournament, Cleveland defeated Beverly Hills, 5-0. Steven Perez threw a complete game. Reno Rankin and Ben Kaser each had two hits.

Kennedy defeated Roosevelt, 3-0, in the Poly Classic. Moises Ceja struck out 13 and hit a home run. Alex Gomez had two hits and two RBIs. Sun Valley Poly (8-1) defeated Chavez, 4-1. Oscar Romo improved to 4-0. Javy Vazquez had two hits.

Chatsworth defeated Banning, 9-3. Chris DeVito had a home run, triple and three RBIs.

In the East Valley League, Mike Munoz threw a no-hitter in Arleta’s 10-0 win over Grant. Andrew Cuevas had three hits. Andrew Marmor threw a complete game in North Hollywood’s 7-2 win over Monroe.

Bishop Amat rallied from a 4-0 deficit to defeat Alemany, 5-4, on a walk-off infield single by Andrew De La Cruz. Closer Rene Deleon gave up five runs in 1 2/3 innings. Ruben Cardenas went three for three for Alemany.

Buckley defeated Grace Brethren, 4-2. Kevin DeCorso threw a complete game. Burbank defeated Arizona Catalina, 21-1, in five innings. Micah Simon had five RBIs.

Tommy Oslund had three hits in West Torrance’s 4-3 win over North Torrance. Verdugo Hills defeated Taft, 4-2. Verdugo Hills defeated Taft, 4-2. Warren defeated L.A. Wilson, 8-3. Freshmen Chucky Castaneda and Joaquin Castaneda each had two hits.

Malibu is 9-0 after a 4-3 win over Villanova. Noah Simon improved to 4-0.
