Baseball: Ian Schiffer’s two-run home run leads Brentwood to victory

Chatsworth Sierra Canyon came in with an 8-1 overall record, but it was Brentwood (4-3) coming away with a 6-4 nonleague victory on Thursday.
Ian Schiffer had a two-run home run and Aaron Fritts had two hits for the Eagles.
In a Valley Mission League game, San Fernando (9-1, 2-0) defeated Van Nuys, 8-1. Carlos Robles struck out seven. Roberto Ramos had two home runs. Eddie Mendez had a three-run home run.
Maywood defeated Arleta, 8-1, in the Poly Classic. Chris Naredo hit two home runs, including a grand slam, and finished with six RBIs.
Ayala won a Sierra League game with a 9-3 victory over Charter Oak. Erik Cha picked up the win. Adrian De Horta threw a three-hitter in South Hills’ 10-0 win over Damien.
Paramount defeated Downey, 5-0. Ulices Moreno (4-1) struck out 11 and allowed four hits in five innings. Frankie Valenzuela had three hits.
