Baseball: Erik Cha comes through with complete game for Ayala

Sierra League play began on Thursday, and sophomore pitcher Erik Cha of Chino Hills Ayala was ready. He through a complete game to lead Ayala past Damien, 7-3.

Anthony Seminaris had two hits and Robert Longtree had a single and double.

Arleta defeated Franklin, 10-1. Jesse Guzman was four for four. Carlos Desantiago had two hits.

Quartz Hill defeated Tehachapi, 10-8, in eight innings. Jagger Ruffins hit a bases clearing triple in the eighth for a 10-7 lead. Ty Boyles tied the game for Quartz Hill with a seventh-inning home run.

Rim of the World defeated Banning, 5-1.

Santa Barbara rolled to a 14-0 win over Santa Maria St. Joseph. Gabe Grandcolas threw five shutout innings, striking out six and walking none. John Brontesema had three hits and hit a two-run home run. Also homering was Conner McManigal.
