Former Newhall Hart infielder Chris Valaika has earned a roster spot on the Miami Marlins.
Valaika, 27, was a non-roster invitee to camp after spending most of his professional career in the Cincinnati Reds organization.
His younger brother, Pat, is the starting shortstop at UCLA. Another brother, Nick, is the starting shortstop at Hart. Another brother, Matt, played at UC Santa Barbara. Chris is the oldest.
