Baseball: Big wins for No. 1 Cypress and No. 2 Harvard-Westlake

No. 1 Cypress (5-0) and No. 2 Harvard-Westlake (5-0) picked up convincing victories on Tuesday night against unbeaten teams.

Cypress defeated Long Beach Poly, 8-1. Trevor Hall threw five shutout innings, allowing two hits. David Fletcher and Stephen Lohr had two hits apiece. Cypress had another game with zero errors.

Harvard-Westlake defeated Mission League rival Chaminade, 11-0, in the championship game of the Easton tournament. Ezra Steinberg contributed three hits and Joe Corrigan and Casey Rosenfeld had two apiece.

The improving Conor Cuse struck out eight, walked one and allowed four hits in six shutout innings. Harvard-Westlake knocked out Chaminade’s Kevin Victoria with five runs in the first inning.
