Baseball: Alonzo Garcia pitches San Fernando past Banning, 5-1

Junior pitcher Alonzo Garcia allowed three hits while striking out six and walking two in San Fernando’s 5-1 win over Banning. Julio Arias had two hits and Miguel Castaneda had two RBIs.

Downey swept a doubleheader from Long Beach Poly, 3-2 and 1-0.

Sun Valley Poly defeated Warren, 5-4, Salamon Salazar had two RBIs for the Parrots, who are 6-1.

North Hollywood defeated Sylmar, 3-1. Andrew Marmor threw a complete game.

Arleta defeated Taft, 8-5. Chris Garcia had three hits and Alex Cendejas and Andrew Cuevas had two apiece.

Moorpark defeated San Pedro, 3-2, in 12 innings. Brad Fullerton finished with three hits and two RBIs. Griffen Mazur drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly. James Barker threw four scoreless innings of relief, striking out seven.
