Baseball: Lakewood gets Moore League win over Long Beach Poly

It took eight innings, but Lakewood was able to pull out a 2-1 win over Long Beach Poly in a Moore League game Monday night at Blair Field.

JP Crawford scored the winning run from first on a double by Austin Colvin.

Poly ace Chris Castellanos suffered a rare defeat. Andrew Mendoza allowed one run in six innings for Lakewood.

In Las Vegas, San Fernando lost to Sierra Vista, 8-2. Jose Haros had two hits. The Tigers beat Faith Lutheran, 3-2, in 10 innings. Anthony Robles had two hits and Omar Martinez got the win by pitching the final three innings. Arleta lost to Desert Oasis, 9-5, and defeated Valely, 14-4.

In San Diego, Cleveland defeated Rancho Buena Vista, 2-1. Jack Hartman struck out seven in six innings.Hartman and Ben Kaser each had two hits. Granada Hills Kennedy was beaten by Montgomery, 3-2, Nicholas Rodriguez had two RBIs.

Woodland Hills El Camino Real was beaten by La Costa Canyon, 1-0. Luke Laurita threw seven shutout innings. Sierra Canyon defeated Tri-City Christian, 10-3. Brian Tucker and Brick Bell had two hits apiece.

In Arizona, Moorpark defeated Oregon Southridge, 7-6, in nine innings. Blake Chiaramonte had a home run and three RBIs. Brad Fullerton contributed three hits. Ryan Swanson had a triple and two RBIs. Michael Day went three for three but Santa Barbara was beaten by Arizona Valley Vista, 8-5.
