Baseball: Alonzo Garcia pitches San Fernando past Poly

Junior right-hander Alonzo Garcia was sharp on Saturday, throwing a three-hitter while striking out six and walking one in San Fernando’s 3-0 victory over Sun Valley Poly.

San Fernando (10-1) received two hits and three RBIs from Roberto Ramos. Garcia improved to 5-1. Josue Moreno struck out seven for Poly (9-2).

In the Trinity League, Santa Margarita pulled out a 3-2 win over Servite by scoring a run in the bottom of the seventh on a squeeze bunt. Tyler Halleck had two hits and led off the seventh with a double. Griffin Canning struck out seven in 5 1/3 innings.

Ryan McMahon went four for four with four RBIs and a three-run home run to help No. 1 Mater Dei defeat JSerra, 14-4. Austin Grebeck had a two-run home run. Jeremy Martinez had three RBIs. Orange Lutheran had 14 hits in a 7-2 win over St. John Bosco. Jason Martin led the Lancers with three hits.

Northview (8-2) defeated Palos Verdes, 2-0. DJ Howard and Adrian Sabatino combined on a no-hitter.

Loyola defeated Banning, 12-0. Nick Sablock hit two home runs and had four RBIs. Henry Stellwagen threw five shutout innings.

Bishop Amat defeated West Torrance, 3-2, on a walk-off bases loaded single by AJ Alcantara.

Gardena Serra defeated Compton Centennial, 10-0, in five innings. Khalil Denson had a five-inning no-hitter. Denzl Chapman had a single, double and triple in a 10-4 second-game win. Ryan Dobson had three RBIs in the first game. Oaks Christian defeated Palisades, 11-3. Phil Bickford and his 94 mph fastball struck out eight. Freshman Noah Prewett had two RBIs. Crescenta Valley swept a doubleheader from Chula Vista Mater Dei, 13-1 and 11-4. Bryan Wang threw five shutout innings in the first game. Ted Boeke hit a grand slam. Boeke added a three-run home run in the second game and finished the day with eight RBIs.

West Ranch defeated El Camino Real, 3-1, at USC. Tony Slauson got the win, with Jake Bird getting the save. Tyler Cohen threw a complete glame and had two RBIs in Agoura’s 8-1 win over Lakewood. Albee Weiss went three for three with two doubles. Bryce Fehmel and Noah Shearer added two hits apiece. Agoura is 8-3.
