Baseball: Austin McGeorge pitches Canyon past El Modena

Anaheim Canyon (8-1, 3-1) received a standout pitching performance from Austin McGeorge to defeat El Modena, 3-1, in a Century League game on Tuesday.

McGeorge struck out six, walked none and allowed five hits in a complete-game performance. Cole Garcia and Josh Balbuena had two hits apiece.

Daniel Griese threw a one-hitter in Beckman’s 3-0 Pacific Coast League win over Northwood. Beckman is 10-1. In the Empire League, David Fletcher had two hits and two RBIs and Trevor Hall threw a five-hitter in Cypress’ 4-0 win over La Palma Kennedy.

In the South Coast League, Ryan Kayoda pitched El Toro past Tesoro, 1-0. He struck out four and walked one. Trabuco Hills upset Capistrano Valley, 5-1.

In the Sunset League, Huntington Beach defeated Los Alamitos, 4-1. Fountain Valley defeated Edison, 6-1.

Paramount defeated Warren, 4-1. Left-hander Ulices Moreno threw six shutout innings with six strikeouts. In the first game of a doubleheader at USC, Crescenta Valley defeated Loyola, 2-1. Brian Gadsby struck out seven in a complete game.

In the Marmonte League, Albee Weiss had two hits and three RBIs in Agoura’s 8-1 win over Calabasas. Ryan Fineman had three hits and Jacob Stock and Tyler Cohen had two hits. Henry Baker struck out six in five innings.

Sophomore Austin Rubick struck out 15 in nine innings of Buena’s 1-0, 10-inning win over Standley Lake.

In Las Vegas, San Fernando defeated Nevada Palo Verde, 6-3. Roberto Ramos struck out five in six innings. He also had a home run and three RBIs. Carlos Robles added two hits and two RBIs. Sun Valley Poly defeated Campbell Hall, 8-2. Oscar Romo improved to 5-0.

Buckley was beaten by Sweetwater, 6-5. Reid Womack had two hits and two RBIs.

In Arizona, Santa Barbara defeated Colorado Chaparral, 4-2. John Brontsema got the save by getting a double play with the bases loaded in the seventh. Moorpark defeated Desert Ridge, 12-1. Sherman Brawner had three RBIs.

In San Diego, North Hollywood lost to Mar Vista, 9-1. Tyson Turner had three hits. The Huskies defeated Cnetral Union, 4-3, in eight innings. Eddie Torres drove in the winning run. Yannick Villanueva had three hits in El Camino Real’s 8-2 win over Bishop O’Dowd. Kennedy defeated Carlsbad, 3-0. Moises Ceja threw a four-hitter, striking out four and walking two. Nick Rodriguez and Alex Ortiz each had two hits.

Chaminade lost to Coronado, 8-5, despite three hits from Myles Hager.

Sierra Canyon defeated Canyon Christian, 20-6. Brian Tucker went four for five. Kyle Weber had a home run and five RBIs.

Reseda Cleveland defeated unbeaten La Jolla Country Day, 4-3, in nine innings. Harley Faye had three hits and Nathan Shapiro squeezed home the winning run.
