It’s hard to compete if you can’t hit a basket and that was the case for Lakewood St. Joseph in the first quarter of the Southern Section Division 3A final against top-seeded Chaminade.

The Jesters were outscored 17-1 and their only point came on a free throw by Dominique Culhno. They fared better in the second quarter, making one field goal and matching Chaminade point for point, but still find themselves trailing 25-9 at halftime.

Meanwhile, despite making only 10 of 42 shots, the Eagles have a huge 32-17 advantage in rebounding. Natalie Venezuela and Mi’Chael Wright each have six points and Cassie MacLeod has eight rebounds for Chaminade.
