Alemany entered the Southern Section Division 3AA playoffs as a heavy favorite and despite having to take every opponent’s best shot, the Warriors are the last team standing. Alemany completed a dominant march through the tournament with a 67-39 rout of Calabasas on Thursday afternoon at the Anaheim Convention Center.

The Warriors won their four playoff games by an average of over 30 points and eased the pain of last season’s double-overtime loss to Laguna Hills in last year’s 3AA final on the same court. It was the fourth section title in 11 finals appearances for Alemany and its first since winning the same division in 1998 -- the last of the Warriors’ three CIF titles under former coach Melissa Hearlihy.

Megan Charles scored 14 points and Jaclyn Goodman and Roxanna Barahman each added seven for the Coyotes (20-9), who shot 27.5 percent and committed 23 turnovers. It was nevertheless a magical run to the finals for Calabasas, which upset third-seeded Jurupa Valley in the quarterfinals and second-seeded Santa Barbara in the semifinals.

The Warriors (27-5) have won 11 straight games and will be one of the favorites to win the state Division III title along with Mission League rival Chaminade, which won the Division 3A championship Wednesday.
