Girls’ basketball: Maine players give Nazi salute in photo

Three members of a girls’ basketball team from Greely High in Maine are facing scrutiny after posing in a photo while giving a Nazi salute by two of the girls.

The school sent out a letter to parents, including the controversial photo, with the following statement:

‘These events, while disturbing, also provide us with an opportunity to teach our children about tolerance and respect. We will be working with the team in order to help them gain a better understanding of the ramifications of incidents such as this. We will also been looking for additional opportunities to educate the greater school community.’ Here’s the link to a Yahoo posting about the controversy.
