Marvin Sanders, who was the secondary coach at USC last season, has been hired as the football coach at Los Angeles Loyola.

Sanders was previously an assistant at Nebraska.

Athletic Director Chris O’Donnell said Sanders’ experience, core ethics and background impressed Loyola administrators.

‘He’s going to be a great fit,’ O’Donnell said.

Sanders inquired about the position before he was let go at the end of this past season at USC, O’Donnell said. O’Donnell said Sanders is committed to coaching at the high school level.

It’s a bit of a surprise, in that Loyola has hired in the past coaches who had ties to the school.

Here’s the link to some comments from Sanders.
