February 7, 2013 | 10:34 pm

Westlake High students charged onto the court as soon as the final buzzer sounded Thursday night to celebrate a 78-53 victory over Calabasas, giving the Warriors their first Marmonte League championship since 1996.

Larry Bush, a junior guard, came out hot and never stopped, scoring 24 points. Joshua Brooks had 18 points and Grant Lozoya finished with 16.

Rob Bloom, a former North Hollywood coach in his second year as head coach at Westlake (22-4, 12-2), had the Warriors in top form. They played strong defense, passed the ball effectively and never let Calabasas (21-5, 11-3) get back into the game after the Coyotes fell behind at halftime, 38-27.

"Larry was fantastic," Bloom said.

Max Hoetzel, a 6-foot-8 junior, had 19 points for the Coyotes.

Westlake is ranked No. 1 in Southern Section Division 2A ahead of Redondo, which won the Bay League championship and defeated Leuzinger, 43-41. Ian Fox led Redondo with 13 points.
