Boys’ basketball: Potential second-round games in 1AA are amazing

Let’s hear it for the great formula used to place teams in Southern Section playoff divisions. The potential matchups in 1AA in the second round are staggering.

Based on my projections, these could be the matchups:

Mater Dei-Warren; Rancho Verde vs. Chino Hills; Rancho Cuamonga vs. Inglewood; Orange Lutheran vs. Mission Viejo; Corona Centennial vs. Silverado; Foothill-Etiwanda; Loyola vs. Pasadena; Mayfair vs. Long Beach Poly. Twelve of the 16 teams have been ranked in The Times’ top 25.

It’s a mini-NCAA tournament.
