Thank goodness there’s going to be the City Section playoffs, because no one has separated himself during the regular season to be considered the leading candidate for City player of the year.

There are players having good seasons.

At Westchester, Matthew Grant has been solid and consistent.

At El Camino Real, Michael Thomas, Julian Richardson and Maleke Haynes have all had their moments of success.

At Crenshaw, Andre Edwards has shown he can score.

The playoffs, however, present an opportunity for someone to emerge in leading a team to the championship.

That will be the person who becomes player of the year in the City Section.
