Boys’ basketball: Isaac Hamilton scores 35 points for St. John Bosco

Isaac Hamilton, named this week to the McDonald’s All American Game, played like an All-American on Friday, making eight three-pointers and scoring 35 points in St. John Bosco’s 91-46 win over Ridgecrest Burroughs in a 3A second-round playoff game.

Chaminade defeated Santa Paula, 73-30. Griffin Cohen scored 22 points and Trevor Stanback had 19. Oak Park defeated Pacifica, 80-51. J.D. Slajchert had 24 points. St. Francis defeated San Dimas, 61-38. Evan Crawford had 12 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

In 1AA, Loyola and Pasadena set up a second-round matchup on Tuesday at Loyola. Loyola defeated Montebello, 86-45. Trey Mason had 13 points and Parker Jackson-Cartwright 12. Pasadena defeated Downey, 71-68. Corona Centennial defeated Long Beach Jordan, 84-69. Deontae North had 27 points and 18 rebounds. Sam Finley added 21 points. Chino Hills defeated Montclair, 68-40.

Etiwanda defeated Highland, 73-39. Sheldon Blackwell and Jordan McLaughlin had 13 points apiece. Etiwanda will face Great Oak in the second around. Top-seeded Mater Dei defeated Eastvale Roosevelt, 83-48. Stanley Johnson had 18 points and James McGee 17. Rancho Cucamonga defeated Riverside King, 77-62. Victor Joseph scored 23 points. Mission Viejo defeated Knight, 75-42. Evan Zeller scored 15 points. Long Beach Poly defeated Palmdale, 84-38. Roschon Prince scored 24 points.

In 1A, Santa Monica defeated Alhambra, 75-32. West Ranch defeated Ventura, 77-59, with Ako Kaluna scoring 35 points and getting 16 rebounds.

In 4AA, Charles Dawson and Mason Shepherd scored 16 points apiece in Windward’s 77-51 win over Oaks Christian. La Verne Lutheran defeated Muir, 54-53. Crespi held off Maranatha, 66-61. London Perrantes had 18 points and Max Heidegger 17 for Crespi. Jeremy Major scored 27 for Maranatha. Top-seeded Bishop Montgomery defeated Twentynine Palms, 86-45. Lamond Murray led the way with 29 points. Justin Bibbins had 10 steals.

Gardena Serra defeated Sierra Canyon, 60-55. Tavrion Dawson scored 16 points and Ajon Efferson 15. Price defeated St. Genevieve, 75-49. Chance Murray and Jalen Woods had 15 points apiece. Harvard-Westlake defeated Laguna Beach, 73-60. Derick Newton, returning from a shoulder injury, had 21 points.

In 4A, Leland King scored 31 points in Brentwood’s 70-31 win over St. Monica. Pacific Hills defeated Marshall, 104-41. Jahmel Taylor finished with 25 points, Namon Wright 23 and Marcus Jackson 22. John Mills had 18. Campbell Hall defeated Renaissance, 50-48. Aaron Holiday scored 21 points and Kahlil Simplis 16. St. Anthony defeated Viewpoint, 75-52. Kyle Benton scored 21 points. Cantwell-Sacred Heart defeated Crossroads, 78-57. Jose Estrada had 19 points and Joey Covarrubias 18.

In 2A, top-seeded Westlake defeated La Habra, 88-44. Larry Bush scored 18 points and Grant Lozoya 16. Dominguez defeated Righetti, 72-67. EJ Johnson had 24 points and seven assists. Redondo defeated Newbury Park, 60-43. Ian Fox scored 23 points.

In 3AAA, Calabasas defeated Palm Desert, 60-44. Max Hoetzel had 18 points. In 3AA, Damien defeated Wilson, 60-45. Jeremy Hemsley scored 17 point and had eight assists. West Torrance defeated Hart, 64-55.

In 5AA, Santa Clara defeated Linfield Christian, 68-57. Armon Momin had 29 points and 10 rebounds. Buckley defeated Riverside Prep, 62-44. Tyler Coppin Carter had 17 points. Village Christian defeated Loma Linda, 76-40. Bryan Alberts had 25 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists.
