Boys’ basketball: City Section play-in games are set

The City Section is guaranteed four teams into the state Division I playoffs in boys’ basketball, but the addition of the Open Division this season means a fifth team could be selected if the City Division I champion is chosen for the Open Division.

So the City Section will hold play-in games next week to determine the fifth team that would participate.

The losers of Tuesday’s quarterfinal games are set to play. On Tuesday, Feb. 26, University will host Taft and Fairfax will host Narbonne. The winners will play on Thursday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m. at Roybal.
