Boys' basketball: Calabasas rallies after falling behind, 20-0
The Calabasas basketball team apparently doesn't mind falling behind. And not just a little. The Coyotes didn't score in the first quarter of their Marmonte League game for first place on Saturday night against visiting Thousand Oaks. They looked up at the scoreboard and saw that Thousand Oaks led, 18-0. It became, 20-0, before the Coyotes scored their first point.
But the Coyotes didn't panic and rallied for a 49-46 victory, leaving them at 21-4 overall and 11-2 in league.
Calabasas trailed by seven points with 21 seconds seconds left. Jeremy Lieberman finished with 23 points, including two free throws with two seconds left to put the Coyotes ahead after Thousand Oaks was charged a technical for a calling a timeout when the Lancers had none left.
In a nonleague game, Village Christian defeated Oaks Christian, 63-61. Marsalis Johnson made a shot at the buzzer. Kenny Smith scored 16 points for Oaks Christian.
