If all goes as planned, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame will break ground this summer on a new baseball stadium, Coach Tom Dill said.

New dugouts. New team room. New concesssion stand. Stadium seating. New lights.

It could be as much as a $1.5 million project, Dill said.

The school has begun fundraising and selling off naming rights, such as dugouts, the locker room and concession stand. The stadium will be Notre Dame Stadium.

Dill is hoping the construction will be completed by the start of the 2014 baseball season.

The lights will allow for night practices and occasional night games.

Notre Dame has had a long, strong baseball tradition, having produced 1993 Cy Young Award winner Jack McDowell and the game’s most promising young power hitter, Giancarlo Stanton.
