There was the Murderers’ Row known as the first six hitters from the New York Yankees in 1927. Santa Ana Mater Dei could have a similar challenge for opposing pitchers when the baseball season begins on Feb. 23.

The Monarchs are set to turn loose Austin Grebeck (Oregon), Ryan McMahon (USC), Jeremy Martinez (USC), Brandon Perez (Oregon) and Tyler Adkison (undecided). All are capable of producing big-time bats. Adkison is the player who could have a breakout season with all the hard work he has put in during the off season.

So Mater Dei’s big challenge will be getting consistency on the mound from Davis Tominaga, Chris Vorsheck and Aaron Cross.
