Baseball: Long Beach Poly is off to a 3-0 start

Long Beach Poly improved to 3-0 in baseball on Monday with a 10-0 victory over St. Bernard in a game that was stopped after 4 1/2 innings.

USC-bound shortstop Frankie Rios had a triple and home run. Sterling Larsen added two RBIs and Pete Fierros went two for two.

Poly will play at Tesoro on Wednesday in the Paramount tournament.

Aaron Barnett had three hits in Capistrano Valley’s 10-1 win over Taft.
