Thomas Duarte, the two-way standout for Santa Ana Mater Dei who was named the player of the year in Southern California by The Times, has committed to UCLA.

He made the announcement at Friday’s Semper Fidelis All-Star Game.

He’s expected to play the position that Joseph Fauria handled as a tight end/receiver with blocking responsibilities.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Duarte caught 15 touchdown passes and was also a key player on defense at linebacker. Don’t be surprised if the Bruins try to take advantage of his versatility by using him on special teams.

Long Beach Jordan receiver John Ross committed to Washington.
