No one knows how good Sherman Oaks Notre Dame will be in football this fall, but count on the Knights to once again be lights out in special teams.

There are so many kickers and long snappers on campus that they could field their own basketball team.

Lucas Alfonso returns as a kicker and Jackson Koonce is back as a punter.

Long snappers are junior Justin Goossen-Brown, who has so many brothers and cousins that they’ve lost count at Notre Dame, and freshman Koby Walsh, whose brother, Niko, was the long snapper last season.

It helps that former Notre Dame kicker Chris Sailer and former long snapper Chris Rubio hold their camps on campus, but also Coach Kevin Rooney emphasizes special teams like few other coaches.

Also, it’s clear the kickers and long snappers are cool under pressure. In other words, they’re a little nutty.
