Football: Arleta wins City Section award for highest team GPA

Arleta High's football team has been honored by the City Section for having the highest grade-point average among football teams in the Los Angeles Unified School District this past season. The GPA was 3.1.

"It's pretty exciting," Coach Dan Kelley said. "It's a great accomplishment. We really work hard toward making sure our kids are eligible and doing their part in the classroom."

Other schools that won fall awards for highest GPAs were University (boys' cross country), San Pedro (girls' cross country), El Camino Real (girls' tennis, girls' golf), Gardena (girls' tennis), Palisades (boys' water polo) and Venice (girls' volleyball).
